in 1967, the band "The Ponzi's," featuring william godley, deb mathis, and alice mcgrant (seen above,) forms in brighton.
they release their first single in 1969. after this they become local celebrities.
their first album, "American Dream," is released in 1972, featuring the song "Somberine and Clean," among others. this is also approximately when they started doing live performances.
some time after Bon's Burgers closes in 1974, and the relocate project falls through in 1978, higher ups at BSI hire The Ponzi's to record music to promote the company.
the original deal was to record songs from late 1980-1982, with hopes of potentially extending to 1983 onwards. however, this fell through as the band began to have personal problems with the producers (changes to song lyrics, less creative freedom over style, among other things,) and their sessions stopped in 1981.
during this time they completed one album, "The Showstoppers." they were partially through recording for "The Showstoppers II" when the band quit. "The Showstoppers" was completed and potentially sold in stores, while the release date of "The Showstoppers II" was understandably delayed and eventually shelved. the only evidence of it left is a rushed together copy compiled of half finished masters.
(apparently the strange noises heard near the end of the album are a result of william getting so upset with felix kranken that he recorded over a song's intro with a heavily distorted and looped over clip of himself laughing. normal behavior)
a few months later in november, william godley was attacked and developed amnesia. after this he had no memory of ever being in The Ponzi's, so the band could no longer perform together.
in january 2021, william (who believed to be named "ronnie felix bourgeoisie" due to his amnesia) began uploading The Ponzi's' music that he found in his attic to youtube, with no knowledge that he had any involvement in what he found. the "Showstoppers" albums ended up on the main channel because he sold tapes of them to anthony.
he also joined the official discord server at the prompting of his daughter and explained some details about his life and the videos he uploaded to youtube. for example, he explained that the "felix" part of the channel name has nothing to do with felix kranken (he wasn't sure who that was at the time,) it's just his supposed middle name.
recently he has regained some of his memories and remembers his real name. i believe this happened between these two videos, if you'd like to look around the channel yourself with that context:
